I am a little biased as this was my 1st smoker. Purchasing this thing included a 70 mile drive, fight with the wife, and beers at a brew pub. It ended nicely and 5 yrs later I'm still happily married (same woman too) so all is good. This smoker led to my addiction to BBQ and smoking so it is basically a gateway drug.
Even though I have purchased bigger and supposedly better smokers, this unit dollar for dollar and lb for lb certainly stacks up with any other smoker you will find.
Pros:
Cost - You can get a solid performing smoker for under $300
Efficiency - The cheap brinkman's at Home Depot / Lowes eat charcoal. so in the long run, this unit is probably cheaper. The closed bottom allows for charcoal conservation
Temperature control - The vent placement on the lower section of the smoker make it easy to restrict airflow and increase or decrease heat.
Size - You can take this thin anywhere. See above dimensions. This unit does disassemble so you can pack it with you to a tailgate easily
Community/Website - Check out the virtual bullet website. Excellent resource for support and ideas.
Cons:
Size: If you are looking for a competition smoker or one to feed a small army, this is not the smoker you need. Option to address this is buy 2-3
That's my only issue...sorry.
